Job Description:
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality procurement of materials and equipment, managing supplier relationships, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to overall project success by developing effective purchasing strategies and controlling budgets.
Core Responsibilities & KRAs
- Strategic Procurement:
Develop and implement purchasing strategies that meet project requirements and company objectives. - Cost Control & Optimization:
Negotiate favorable prices, terms, and agreements with vendors to reduce material costs while maintaining quality. - Supplier Management:
Source, vet, and manage relationships with reliable suppliers, assessing their performance and ensuring their ability to meet demand. - Timely Delivery & Logistics:
Coordinate the delivery of materials to construction sites, ensuring timely arrival to prevent project delays. - Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet specified quality standards. - Budgeting & Forecasting:
Create and manage purchasing budgets and develop methods to estimate future material needs for projects. - Inventory & Record Keeping:
Manage inventory levels, maintain accurate records of orders, deliveries, and vendor interactions, often using an ERP system. - Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements, while maintaining proper documentation.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to Measure KRAs
- Cost Savings:
Track actual cost savings achieved through negotiation. - On-Time Delivery Rate:
Measure the percentage of orders delivered on time to the construction sites. - Material Shortages:
Aim for zero production or project losses due to material shortages. - Supplier Performance:
Evaluate vendor reliability, quality, and responsiveness. - Cost Variance:
Compare actual costs against budgeted costs for materials. - Inventory Turnover:
Monitor how efficiently inventory is used and managed
