Project Controller
Role Objective
To act as the central command authority for execution discipline across all EMPHORIA projects
ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, as per contract, and with full
compliance.
The Project Controller (PC) is directly responsible for converting project plans into reality by
enforcing delivery, exposing risks early, maintaining financial discipline, and ensuring real-time
coordination between site, office, and client. This role is not a support function — it is an
executive control role, with high authority and direct accountability for project-level outcomes.
Projects Under Control
- T&D Projects (Transmission Lines, Substations, Distribution)
- Infrastructure Projects (Roads, Utilities, Civil Structures)
- Real Estate Projects (High-rise Residential & Mixed Use)
- Renewable Energy (Rooftop Solar, Ground-Mount Hybrid)
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Accountability, Ownership & Enforcement
- 100% accountability for physical progress, billing achievement, and schedule adherence
- Own every project's master schedule, billing lifecycle, and cost-control discipline
- Act as primary escalation authority for delays, deviations, and cross-functional gaps
- No progress slippage or billing underachievement will go unchallenged or unexplained
- Every week, drive decisive action — not just reporting — to ensure project advancement
- Must be ready to intervene, realign, push, question, and even stop works if financial or
contractual risk is identified
- No assumptions — all facts must be verified, cross-checked, and documented
Key Responsibilities
1. Multi-Project Control & Monitoring
- Maintain real-time tracking dashboards for all live projects — including % progress,
billing vs plan, cashflow status, and manpower/equipment resource alignment
- Enforce uniform control protocols across all project types despite different domains
- Maintain L2 and L3 schedules for each project, tag milestones, and review progress
weekly
- Conduct multi-project review meetings with site in-charges and functional leads
2. Schedule, Cost & Billing Enforcement
- Control overall project timelines with milestone-wise tracking
- Ensure all vendor and client billing is strictly as per actual progress and schedule
Enforce financial discipline — no billing without GRN/JMC/progress confirmation
Preempt cost overruns by evaluating scope variations, idle manpower, material wastage,
etc.
3. Execution Ownership & Field Force Control
- Drive Project Managers to maintain daily progress reports, mobilize vendors, and close
workfronts
- Enforce workfront utilization: no contractor should be idle due to decision or delay
- Push for execution velocity and resource deployment at critical stages
- Support PMs by solving bottlenecks but also hold them accountable for gaps and delays
4. Client, Contract & Risk Oversight
- Track client-side approvals, hindrances, and claims — maintain documented records for
each
- Coordinate with Legal/Contracts for scope deviations, delay penalties (LD), and
additional works
- Raise red flags if execution or billing is misaligned with the contract or tender scope
- Ensure all project variations are logged, approved, and tracked financially
5. MIS, Reviews, AI Reporting & Escalations
- Maintain centralized project dashboards, shared sheets, and AI-integrated WhatsApp
trackers
- Send weekly and monthly structured reports to top management with clear status, gaps,
and next steps
- Trigger alerts/escalations when any project exceeds risk thresholds (delay, cost, or non-
compliance)
- Ensure every stakeholder is kept informed, chased, and pushed for timely closure of
issues
