Roles & Responsibilities (Construction Industry)**
1. Safety Planning & Compliance
- Assist in developing and implementing the project Safety Management Plan (SMP).
- Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements (Factories Act, BOCW Act, IS codes, NBC, and OSHA guidelines as applicable).
- Support preparation and maintenance of safety documentation, permits, and registers.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards and legal obligations.
2. Site Safety Monitoring
- Conduct daily site safety walks and report unsafe acts/conditions.
- Ensure Toolbox Talks (TBT) are conducted regularly and effectively.
- Monitor work at height, lifting operations, hot work, confined spaces, scaffolding, and electrical safety.
- Verify PPE compliance and ensure availability of appropriate safety gear.
3. Incident & Risk Management
- Assist in hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA/JSA).
- Support investigation of incidents, near misses, and accidents; prepare reports and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Track closure of non-compliances, NC reports, and safety observations.
4. Safety Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction for new workers and subcontractor employees.
- Organize periodic safety training, mock drills, and emergency preparedness sessions.
- Promote safety culture through campaigns, posters, signage, and awareness programs.
5. Coordination & Liaison
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and workers for implementing safe work practices.
- Liaise with external safety auditors, consultants, and statutory authorities as required.
- Work closely with the Safety Manager to implement company-wide safety strategies.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and update daily safety reports, inspection checklists, and permit-to-work records.
- Prepare weekly/monthly MIS on safety performance, training conducted, and compliance status.
- Maintain records of incidents, audits, safety statistics, PPE issuance, etc.
7. Emergency Preparedness
- Support development and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan.
- Ensure availability of firefighting equipment, first aid kits, evacuation routes, and signage.
- Conduct and document emergency drills.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Identify areas for improvement in safety systems and recommend action plans.
- Assist in implementing ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 standards if applicable.
- Evaluate new safety technologies and best practices suitable for construction environments.
9. Leadership & Supervision
- Guide safety stewards/officers on day-to-day safety monitoring.
- Ensure subcontractors follow the company's safety guidelines.
- Participate in daily review meetings and provide safety inputs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Engineering or Science.
- Mandatory: Diploma in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / ADIS / PDIS or equivalent certification.
- 12+ years of experience in construction industry safety (adjust as per requirement).
- Strong knowledge of construction safety laws and best practices.
- Experience in Mivan aluform work/high-rise building construction is mandatory.
