Job Title: Vendor Development Manager (Battery / Specialty Chemicals)

Location: Kolkata

Notice Period: Up to 45 days

Experience Required: 5–7 years

About the Role

We are looking for a technically strong Vendor Development Manager to lead supplier qualification, sourcing, and procurement of specialty chemicals and raw materials such as Silicon, Aluminum, and Carbon-based compounds used in battery and energy systems.

The ideal candidate will ensure vendor compliance, material quality, supply reliability, and cost efficiency, working closely with cross-functional teams like R&D, Manufacturing, and QA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct supplier assessments to qualify vendors for specialty chemicals and battery-grade materials.
  • Verify supplier compliance with REACH, RoHS, TSCA, and hazardous material handling standards.
  • Review Certificates of Analysis (CoA) to confirm purity, particle size, and absence of impurities.
  • Ensure process stability and consistent raw material quality across batches.
  • Monitor packaging and logistics to prevent contamination or moisture damage.
  • Develop and manage a diversified vendor base to mitigate supply chain and geopolitical risks.
  • Collaborate with R&D to test and integrate new material grades for better performance.
  • Support vendors with technical training and encourage ISO 45001 / 14001 certifications.
  • Conduct cost benchmarking and negotiate supplier prices while maintaining technical quality.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for raw material validation, testing, and payment processing.

Requirements

Education:

  • B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, or EV & Battery Technology

Experience:

  • 5–7 years in vendor development, procurement, or sourcing of battery-grade chemicals or specialty materials

Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of chemical synthesis, purification, and packaging processes
  • Understanding of particle size distribution, BET surface area, and impurity analysis
  • Knowledge of REACH, RoHS, TSCA, GHS/CLP, and DG shipping requirements
  • Strong cost analysis and vendor negotiation skills
  • Ability to assess and audit vendor manufacturing capabilities.
