Job Title: State Head, Government Business

Grade: VP / AVP

Location: Chennai, Hyderabad & Bengaluru

Role Purpose

To lead and drive the Government Business vertical for the assigned state, ensuring achievement of business targets across Government Sponsored Schemes (GSS), Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT), State Government partnerships, and overall financial inclusion mandates.

Role & responsibilities

.Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Develop and manage strong relationships with State Government departments, agencies, and bodies.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities in government banking, including salary accounts, pension accounts, and institutional tie-ups.
  • Liaise with Central & State Government officials for implementation of schemes. 2.Government Sponsored Schemes (GSS)
  • Lead and monitor the performance of all Government Sponsored Schemes (both Central & State
  • Ensure timely implementation, reporting, and compliance of DBT, social security, and other government benefit programs.
  • Drive branch network & BCs to maximize outreach under financial inclusion mandates.

3.Strategy & Revenue Management

  • Achieve state-level business targets for government business vertical (CASA, fee income, float, and cross-sell).
  • Monitor business performance and prepare periodic MIS/reports for senior management.
  • Drive digitization of government payments and collections in partnership with departments.
  • 4.Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and mentor the Government Business team at the state level.
  • Coordinate with Zonal/Regional Heads, Operations, Compliance, and Product teams for smooth execution.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for branch staff on government business processes.

Preferred candidate profile

  1. Should have 5 yrs + experience in Government Business
  2. Should be working in the said location for at least over 5 yrs
  3. Should know the local language and be a local
