Your Mission:
To be the architect of our robot's physical form and function. You will translate ambitious concepts into tangible, functional, and elegant robotic hardware. You will own the entire mechatronic design lifecycle, from a sketch on a whiteboard to a fully assembled and integrated prototype that is ready to be brought to life by our AI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Futuristic Product Design:
    Lead the mechanical design of our robotic systems from the ground up using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape).
  • Mechatronics Integration:
    Design for the seamless integration of electronic components, including processors, motor drivers, power systems, and custom PCBs, within the mechanical assembly.
  • Sensor Integration:
    Expertly model and integrate a variety of sensors, including LiDAR, depth cameras, IMUs, encoders, and force/torque sensors, ensuring optimal placement and performance.
  • Prototyping & Assembly:
    Take a hands-on approach to building what you design. You will be responsible for rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC), sourcing components, and performing the assembly of our first-generation robots.
  • System Validation:
    Develop and execute tests to validate the mechanical and electrical integrity, durability, and performance of the robot.
  • Collaboration:
    Work in lockstep with the AI Engineer to ensure the hardware meets the demands of the software stack and that the physical design enables advanced autonomous capabilities.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain clear and detailed design documentation, including CAD models, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in robotics or mechatronics design.
  • Expert proficiency in at least one major CAD software package (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proven hands-on experience building and assembling complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and material properties.
  • Experience integrating common robotic sensors and actuators.
  • Familiarity with basic electronics (reading datasheets, understanding schematics, wiring).

Preferred Qualifications (The "Nice-to-Haves"):

  • Experience designing for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
  • Experience with PCB design software (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Eagle).
  • Firmware development experience for microcontrollers (C/C++).
  • Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS or ROS 2).
  • Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment.
  • A portfolio of personal or professional projects showcasing your design and build capabilities.
