About the Role
To ensure timely and efficient international logistics operations, including container placement, vessel onboarding, and freight management, contributing to overall customer satisfaction and cost optimization.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely container placement at the plant and onboard scheduling across all four ports
- Prepare and circulate shipping schedules within 24 hours of receiving production plans
- Monitor and maintain schedule transit times
- Evaluate and onboard CHAs and transporters as required
- Reduce container repair claims and eliminate unnecessary port and CFS charges
- Obtain competitive quotations for each shipment to support cost optimization
- Negotiate on freight components such as GRI/BRS/EBS
- Arrange free time at POD without increasing freight costs
- Attend relevant customs and documentation training sessions
- Develop SOPs and support team capability building initiatives
Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline (preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fields)
- Postgraduate qualification in International Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
- 7-10 years of experience in international logistics or freight forwarding
Required Skills
- Excellent coordination and planning capabilities
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Process orientation with a focus on compliance and cost efficiency
- Exposure to South Indian market
- Tamil speaking preferred
- Strong understanding of customs procedures and international shipping documentation
