Vertical Head - Marine Loss Control and Engineering Services

1. Risk Assessment and Surveys
   • Conduct detailed inspections of cargo, vessels, ports, marine terminals, and warehouses to identify potential risks.
   • Evaluate packing, handling, stowage, and security procedures for compliance with best practices and regulations.
   • Perform both desktop vetting and physical inspections for vessel suitability, packaging, and cargo condition assessments.
   • Comprehensive Risk Assessment Across the Supply Chain not just for goods in transit, but also for inventory stored at owned or third-party warehouses, job workers, and subcontractors for STPs
2. Loss Prevention and Mitigation
   • Develop and present tailored recommendations to clients to minimize potential losses for both transit risks and static (storage) wherever applicable.
   • Analyze past loss trends and implement practical, feasible strategies for loss prevention.
   • Address recurrent losses from perils like wet damage, theft, pilferage, jerks and jolts and hijacking through thorough ground inspections, root cause analyses, and MIS-supported claim assessment reports.
   • Issue detailed MLCE reports with actionable recommendations and support on-ground implementation and monitoring of corrective actions for warehouse safety, cargo security, and process improvements, reducing the frequency and severity of claims across the entire supply chain
3. Root Cause Analysis
   • Investigate incidents such as wet damage, theft, or hijacking to determine the root cause and propose corrective actions.
   • Use trend analysis and root cause investigations to inform risk improvement programs and reduce future claim counts.

4. Marine Warranty Surveys
   • Conduct pre-dispatch or pre-purchase condition assessment surveys for high-value, critical, or oversized cargo requiring comprehensive transit coverage.
   • Create Virtual Monitoring and survey tools to provide ease of business & enhance convenience for the insureds
5. Compliance and Auditing
   • Audit existing policies and procedures for effectiveness and assist with the implementation of industry best practices.
6. Technical Support
   • Provide technical guidance to clients' logistics teams on cargo securing, vessel selection, route assessments, and cost-effective, safe transit methods.
   • Advise on handling, stowage, and securing guidelines for various cargo types, including dangerous goods and heavy lift shipments.
   • Provide underwriters with technical insights on risk quality at each storage and transit location, enabling more accurate risk selection.
7. Communication and Reporting
   • Document findings and recommendations in detailed reports for clients and underwriters.
   • Act as a "knowledge center" to facilitate information exchange between clients, underwriters, and the IMDs.
   • Monitor and report impact of loss minimization studies
8. Training
   • Develop and deliver training materials to clients and internal teams to support risk management philosophies and best practices.
   • Participate in Centers of Excellence and contribute to the development of guidance documents and best practice materials.
9. Collaboration
   • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including business partners, surveyors, and clients, to develop and implement service plans.
   • Strategically appoint and manage third-party surveyors to support global loss control activities and review their reports for content and quality.
   • Collaborate with IT and underwriting teams to pilot and scale digital solutions that enhance underwriting productivity and client experience. E.g. Inspection apps
10. Client & Broker Engagement
    • Participate in client and broker meetings as a technical expert, providing risk improvement advice, training, and support for complex or high-value accounts.

Deliver technical presentations and training sessions to clients, brokers, and internal teams, enhancing the company's reputation for expertise and service.

i. Marine Systems & Regulations: In-depth knowledge of marine systems, cargo securing principles (lashing calculations, center of gravity), and maritime regulations (SOLAS, IMDG, IMO, TAPA, etc.). ii. Risk Assessment Tools: Proficiency in using computer systems, risk assessment software, and telematics solutions for real-time monitoring. iii. Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret data, perform risk analysis, conduct investigations, and identify vulnerabilities. iv. Technical Reporting
