Job Description:

An AGM/DGM in a steel industry job description involves strategic and operational leadership across various functions, such as operations, quality control, procurement, and sales/marketing. Core responsibilities include managing production, ensuring quality and efficiency, optimizing costs, handling strategic planning, leading projects, and managing teams to meet production targets and business goals. 

Common responsibilities

  • Operations:
    • Manage the overall performance of steelmaking, including volume, efficiency, productivity, and cost. 
       
    • Coordinate production planning and scheduling to meet delivery commitments. 
       
    • Analyze and correct process abnormalities. 
       
    • Spearhead initiatives to improve work methods, safety, and equipment utilization. 
       



  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure the quality of steel produced through process control and technology control. 
       
    • Develop and implement quality management systems (QMS). 
       
    • Oversee testing and analysis using equipment like spectrometers, hardness testers, and microscopes. 
       



  • Procurement:
    • Manage raw material procurement, including vendor management, contract negotiation, and inventory control. 
       
    • Ensure timely supply of quality materials and maintain optimal inventory levels. 
       



  • Sales and Marketing:
    • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve targets. 
       
    • Identify new business opportunities and manage customer relationships. 
       
    • Prepare technical and commercial proposals and conduct market analysis. 
       



  • Project Management:
    • Plan, monitor, and control projects, coordinating engineering, procurement, and construction. 
       
    • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources for new projects and plant upkeep. 
       



  • People Management:
    • Train, mentor, and develop subordinates to improve performance and align with company objectives. 
       
    • Foster a safe working culture and manage a cross-functional team.
