Job Summary:
The Statutory Compliance Manager will oversee and manage the companys compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements in India. This role requires a deep understanding of Indian labor laws, tax regulations, and industry-specific compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of implementing compliance strategies effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and changes affecting the business. Ensure adherence to statutory requirements including labor laws, tax regulations, and industry-specific compliance. Prepare and file necessary documentation for compliance with regulatory authorities.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to compliance activities.
Manage internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Investigate compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
Liaison and Coordination:
Coordinate with external agencies, auditors, and consultants as required.
Liaise with government authorities and ensure timely submission of compliance reports and documents.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations and recommend necessary changes to internal policies.
Implement best practices in compliance management and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Audits and Inspections:
Prepare for and manage internal and external audits related to compliance.
- Implement corrective actions based on audit findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Masters degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CS, CA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in statutory compliance or a related field, preferably in [industry or sector].
- In-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws, tax regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and compliance management software.
Preferred Skills:
- Integrity and strong ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex compliance issues.
