Manager / Senior Manager – Commodity Trading (Steel / Petrochemicals)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced
Commodity Trading Professional
with expertise in
steel, petrochemicals, or related commodities
. This role is central to managing
price volatility, hedging strategies, and risk management
, ensuring our client, a hyper-growth, tech-enabled construction-materials platform, remains ahead of the market curve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor
    global commodity markets
    (steel, petrochemicals, energy, freight indices) and deliver daily/weekly market intelligence.
  • Develop and execute
    hedging strategies
    using futures, forwards, options, and swaps.
  • Build and maintain
    commodity trading models
    that incorporate indices, demand-supply dynamics, and macroeconomic factors.
  • Forecast forward prices to support business planning and long-term contracts.
  • Partner with
    procurement and finance teams
    to align sourcing and margin strategies with real-time market shifts.
  • Track market volatility, exchange rate impacts, and regulatory developments affecting commodity prices.
  • Present trading and pricing insights in leadership reviews to drive strategic decisions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education:
    MBA in Finance / Economics preferred (CFA / FRM a strong plus).
  • Experience:
    3-8 years in
    commodity trading, pricing, or risk management
    in steel, petrochemicals, or energy.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong financial modeling skills (Excel, VBA, Python/R preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with
    trading platforms and data sources
    (Bloomberg, Reuters, Platts, Metal Bulletin, LME).
  • Knowledge Base:
    Expertise in hedging instruments, market indices, freight rates, and volatility management.
  • Soft Skills:
    Analytical mindset, urgency under pressure, cross-functional collaboration, and decision-making in fast-moving markets.
