Position Overview:

The Head of Operations (BDM) will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of business for the firm. Head of Operations will work closely with senior leadership of and to drive operational efficiency, growth, and ensure that India delivers high- quality services to clients while adhering to regulatory standards. This position is responsible for managing internal processes, improving operational effectiveness, overseeing teams, and ensuring that

meets its strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee all day-to-day operations, including client servicing, claims management, policy placement, and underwriting processes.
  • Implement operational processes and policies to enhance operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize performance.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards set by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and other local authorities.
  • Coordinate between different departments (sales, claims, underwriting, compliance) to ensure seamless operations.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor cross-functional teams to enhance performance and collaboration across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to department heads, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Build a high-performing, customer-centric culture, promoting continuous development through training, feedback, and development programs.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to define and implement the strategic goals and objectives.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to operations, systems, and processes to support business growth and enhance operational productivity.
  • Work closely with business development, sales, and marketing teams to ensure operational capabilities align with market demand and customer needs.

Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure that operational activities are fully compliant with IRDAI regulations and other relevant local laws.
  • Regularly monitor and report on compliance, identifying and addressing operational risks and challenges.
  • Develop and manage contingency plans for potential operational disruptions.

Technology Integration & Innovation:

  • Drive the adoption and implementation of technology solutions to streamline operations, improve client service, and manage risk.
  • Identify emerging trends in the insurance industry to ensure the operation remains compliant and efficient.

Financial Oversight & Cost Management:

  • Work with the finance department to ensure that operational costs remain in line with the overall financial goals.
  • Manage operational budgets and allocate resources efficiently, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives across various operational functions without compromising on quality.

Client Relationship & Service Excellence:

  • Ensure that the client servicing strategies align with customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Address and resolve escalated client concerns, ensuring timely and effective solutions.

Reporting & Performance Analysis:

  • Establish performance metrics to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Regularly report and GGB India Senior Leadership on operational performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use data and analytics to make informed decisions and recommend operational improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, or related field. MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Professional certifications in insurance (e.g., IRDAI certification) would be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Proven experience in managing and scaling operational functions within a fast-paced, customer-centric environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Indian insurance industry, regulatory landscape, and market trends.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of operational performance metrics and process optimization.
  • Technologically savvy, with experience in adopting and managing insurance software and tools.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and cost control.
