The Head Finance & Accounts will be responsible for leading and managing the financial operations of NSHM Academy, Durgapur. The role requires a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Company Secretary (CS) with proven expertise in educational trusts, taxation, compliance, and higher education finance. The incumbent will ensure statutory compliance, robust financial governance, and long-term financial sustainability while supporting the institutions mission of academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Formulate financial strategies aligned with institutional and academic objectives.

Advise senior leadership on financial matters, taxation planning, and trust accounting.

Drive long-term forecasting, risk assessment, and fiscal sustainability initiatives.

Prepare, manage, and monitor budgets across academic and administrative functions.

Track income from tuition fees, grants, and other sources, ensuring compliance with educational trust accounting norms.

Ensure optimum utilization of resources for operational and developmental needs.

Oversee general accounting, payroll, vendor management, and receivables.

Ensure timely preparation of MIS, financial statements, and statutory reports.

Manage compliance under Income Tax Act, GST, and Education Trust Regulations.

Liaise with regulatory bodies (UGC, AICTE, Universities) for financial compliance.

Lead statutory, internal, and trust-specific audits.

Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with education trust governance norms.

Develop policies for financial risk mitigation.

Supervise fee collection, scholarships, and student aid disbursement.

Manage finances for infrastructure, capital projects, and expansion activities.

Handle financial aspects of accreditation, trust reporting, and institutional rankings.

Lead and develop the finance & accounts team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Foster a culture of compliance, transparency, and accountability.

Qualifications:

Chartered Accountant (CA) / Company Secretary (CS); additional qualification such as CMA/ICWA/MBA Finance preferred.

12-15+ years of financial leadership experience, including 5+ years in the education sector / educational trusts.

Strong knowledge of trust accounting, taxation (direct & indirect), and education-sector compliance/ regulatory frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to manage audits, compliance, and financial governance in an institutional setup.

Excellent leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
