Job Description SummaryThe Team Lead - Electrical Commissioning at GE Power India Limited is a pivotal role accountable for guiding multiple electrical commissioning engineers at multiple EPC projects across FGD & TI portfolio and driving them to successful commissioning, PG tests and closeout. This is a dynamic and field-intensive role with high stakeholder engagement across multiple sites. You will ensure project success through strategic commissioning planning, execution excellence, risk mitigation, and operational coordination. This role is critical to maintaining GE Vernova's commitment to safety, quality deliver, cost, and customer satisfaction.
This is a site based role and will report to Sr. Project Management Manager- Commissioning SP India and will travel as required to other project sites for driving execution on ground as and when needed.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Strategic Execution

• Define and deploy the electrical commissioning resource strategy aligned with overall business and project objectives across all TI & FGD projects.

• Develop execution and commissioning plans, ensuring optimization of manpower, test equipment, and harmonization of practices across sites.

• Support early engagement during tendering and contractor finalization, influencing constructability, system design, and commissioning readiness.

• Contribute to business planning and resource forecasting, balancing cost, delivery, and customer commitments through strategic planning and sequences, ensuring safe, reliable, and timely electrical system commissioning.

2. Commissioning Oversight

• Provide end to end oversight for commissioning of electrical systems, including generator auxiliaries, excitation/AVR panels, transformers (unit, auxiliary, station), HT/LT switchgears, MCCs, VFDs, synchronization panels, and control circuits.

• Lead site mobilization, readiness assessments, and energization planning, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and customer protocols.

• Offer technical guidance and troubleshooting support during testing, pre-commissioning, cold and hot commissioning, and PG Test phases.

• Ensure cross-functional collaboration/support among civil, mechanical, electrical, and I&C teams for integrated system readiness.

• Partner with internal stakeholders of Engineering for design clarifications, Procurement for supplier or contractor issues, and Construction Ops for commissioning coordination.

• Supervise the standardization of commissioning documentation, test procedures, interlock logic validation, and protection system verification across projects.

• Ensure timely RCA and resolution of recurring field failures, protection trips, or system interface issues with DCS/PLC.

3. Stakeholder Management

• Steer selection, onboarding, and performance management of subcontractors, vendors, and electrical commissioning partners.

• Ensure customer alignment and satisfaction through proactive engagement with OEMs, contractors and customers during system testing and handover stages.

• Act as the technical representative in high-level customer and OEM discussions for troubleshooting, deviation approvals, and technical closures.

4. Safety, Quality, and Compliance

• Promote a zero incident culture, ensuring adherence to GE Vernova's SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) framework.

• Enforce safe electrical practices during energization, PTW/LOTO implementation, and HV/LV equipment testing.

• Drive quality compliance to GE Vernova and client specifications for electrical installations and commissioning.

• Oversee statutory and regulatory compliance including labor laws, electrical safety standards, and environmental permits.

5. Commissioning & Handover

• Lead and enable site teams in system readiness verification, ensuring completion of pre-commissioning, cold and hot commissioning, and trial run activities.

• Drive the coordination and execution of PG Tests (PGT), punch point resolution, and systematic handover to customer operations.

• Ensure all commissioning data, test reports, interlock validation, and logic modification records are properly documented and digitized.

• Support warranty and DLP activities, facilitating quick resolution of electrical faults, ensuring uptime, and capturing learnings for design feedback.

6. People & Process

• Lead a team of electrical commissioning engineers across multiple project sites and provide direct oversight to critical sites during commissioning peaks.

• Mentor and coach engineers on electrical testing, troubleshooting and protection logic to build a strong next-line leadership pipeline.

• Promote continuous improvement through Lean (Kaizen), digital tools, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across sites.

• Drive cultural alignment with GE Vernova Way

• Enable site teams for techno-commercial discussions with customers during commissioning and warranty phases.

Required Qualifications

Degree/Diploma from recognized university in electrical engineering

More than 15 yrs of electrical commissioning on site. Preferably more than 10 yrs in power plant projects.
