**About the **job**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a young professional preferably from the book publishing industry to assist our commissioning editor in building an exciting list of nonfiction and fiction trade titles. You will get to interact with potential authors and be responsible for managing the end-to-end life cycle of a book. From ideation to publication, you will assist us at all stages of a book being born.

**Your Role**:
You will be responsible for:

- Researching and finding potential authors who align with our publication strategy
- Co-ordinating with authors in consultation with the commissioning editor
- Helping lead authors open their books on the LetsAuthor platform
- Development editing of manuscripts
- Coordinating author contracts
- Coordinating with copyeditors, typesetters, proofreaders, cover designers, and illustrators
- Handling administrative paperwork
- Writing blogs

**Key Skills Required**:

- 1+ years of experience in commissioning in the book publishing industry, preferably trade books
- Strong copyediting skills
- Ability to give constructive feedback to authors on their manuscripts
- Great attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Postgraduate degree in Literature, Journalism, Humanities, or any other relevant field
- Be a highly-motivated self-starter, a team player who is able to build great relationships with both colleagues and authors.
- Be enthusiastic about trying new things and solving problems.
- Be passionate about books and communicate that passion to authors in the way they build these valuable relationships for the organization.
- Be an excellent communicator capable of engaging key stakeholders, communicating priorities, and managing expectations.
- Thrive in an environment where an iterative, pragmatic approach is often required.
