Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Department: Technology

Location: Chennai, Mumbai

Reporting To: Technology Business Partner, Ship Management

About the Role

Synergy Maritime Pvt Ltd, a global leader in ship management, is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams. The role involves eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, optimizing processes, and ensuring delivery of high-quality IT solutions tailored for maritime operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ship management stakeholders to gather and analyze detailed requirements.
  • Conduct workshops, interviews, and document analysis to prepare Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs).
  • Develop As-Is and To-Be process flows to identify improvements and system enhancements.
  • Translate requirements into actionable user stories/epics using JIRA for agile sprint planning.
  • Coordinate with IT vendors and developers for design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Validate technical specifications against business requirements.
  • Drive UAT planning, test case creation, and execution.
  • Manage change requests, scope, and documentation throughout the SDLC.
  • Provide post-implementation support and end-user training.
  • Standardize documentation practices and BA frameworks across modules.
  • Contribute BA & project management best practices for requirements elicitation & management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's in Maritime Studies / IT or related field (Master's/MBA preferred).
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt).
  • Experience:
  • 10–12 years as a Business Analyst (3+ years in a senior role).
  • Mandatory: Shipping industry experience with IT BA knowledge of crewing processes & workflows.
  • Strong experience in Agile with tools like JIRA & Confluence.
  • Prior work with crewing systems/products in IT roles preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management & communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead projects when required.
  • Tools: JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft , MS Office Suite, BPMN/UML tools.
