Role Overview

As a Line Cook at Big Poppa's, you'll be an essential part of the kitchen team — executing dishes to standard, maintaining prep and station cleanliness, and working with precision and speed during service. You'll follow Big Poppa's recipes and SOPs to ensure consistency, while also supporting the team in keeping costs controlled and minimizing wastage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to Big Poppa's standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain your station — prep, cook, and plate dishes with accuracy and consistency.
  • Work efficiently during service to ensure smooth flow and timely ticket execution.
  • Assist in the preparation of smoked meats, steaks, burgers, and sandwiches, ensuring correct techniques are followed.
  • Follow portion controls and minimize wastage.
  • Keep prep and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards.
  • Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries.
  • Support fellow cooks and kitchen staff as needed during peak hours.
  • Communicate clearly with the Executive Chef and team on prep levels, shortages, or issues.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or line cook experience preferred (grill, casual dining, or American cuisine a plus).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to handle a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen safety standards.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and busy shifts.
