This position leads and manages software engineering teams, ensuring the development of high-quality, secure, and compliant software solutions that meet business needs and patient care objectives. This role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, team development, and fostering collaboration with various stakeholders.
Position Summary
Were seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Software Development to lead our engineering teams in designing, building, and optimizing cutting-edge solutions for the healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) ecosystem, including Credentialing. This role combines deep technical expertise with knowledge of the healthcare domain to accelerate intelligent and robotic automation, improve payer-provider workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of healthcare RCM, including areas like coding, claims processing, payment posting, and denial management.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Defining and driving the technical strategy for software development, aligning it with the overall business goals and objectives of the healthcare organization.
- Team Management: Leading and mentoring software engineering teams, including recruitment, mentoring, performance management, and career development. Foster a high-performance, agile development culture.
- Technical Oversight: Providing hands-on design guidance, ensuring adherence to coding standards, and promoting best practices for software development.
- Collaboration: Working closely with Operations leaders, project management, data science, regulatory, and quality teams to deliver software solutions that meet product roadmaps, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Compliance: Ensuring that software development processes and products comply with relevant healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA.
- Resource Management: Managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of software projects.
- Technical Leadership: Oversee architecture and development of scalable RCM platforms, including claims processing, reconciliation logic, denial prediction, and compliance tracking.
- Innovation & Automation: Drive automation initiatives using Healthcare EDI standards, AI/ML, LLM tools, synthetic datasets, and tools like Azure Cognitive Services, Logic Apps, and Power Automate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 20+ years in software development, with 10+ in healthcare RCM.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), microservices, and secure APIs.
- Experience with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding workflows and payer adjudication systems.
- Experience with healthcare standards such as HL7, X12 EDI transactions, NCD/LCD, and others.
- Proficiency in .NET, Python, or modern development stacks.
- Experience using machine learning models (e.g., XGBoost, LightGBM) and synthetic data generation.
- Experience using LLM tools (Copilot,) to create conversational and agentic AI tools integrated into RCM workflows.
- Deep understanding of modern cloud architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and API-first development.
- Strong expertise in data pipelines (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Airflow), ETL/ELT tools, and integration frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Rally).
- Experience with enterprise and vendor integrations
- Strong knowledge of data management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
