Role & responsibilities:
1. Recruitment/Hiring
Hiring is a process which brings pool of prospective candidates who can help organization achieve their goals and allows managements to select right candidates from the given pool.
Before starting the process of recruitment, proper staffing plans need to be executed and we need to decide on number of employees we are going to need. Forecasting of the employees should depend upon the annual budget of the organization and short-term and long-term goals of the organization.
Once recruited the second step would be employee orientation. Employee orientation program should include the objectives and goals of the organization and how the employee can help to achieve the long-term and short-term goals of the organization.
Giving intensive orientation to the employee is one of the major functions of human resource management. The program should help the employee to know his assigned duties and his exact job description, job role, and the relationship of position to other positions in the organization. It gives clarification to the employee to take an active role in the organization.
3. Performance Appraisal
Checking and analyzing employee performance is another important function that human resource management has to perform. The following steps need to be taken care off:-
Designing the appraisal forms
Getting the forms filled out in time by all team members and managers
Making sure the appraisal process is completed and followed as per company policy
4. Training & Development
Checking what training a new employee needs and making sure he/she receives the necessary training
Devising training modules with each department head to make sure proper training is given to all employees
5. Salary Administration
Preparing pay slips
Making sure employees are paid on time
Making sure F&F is done on time for ex-employees
6. Employee Welfare
This function takes care of numerous services, benefits and facilities provided to an employee for their well-being. It is the responsibility of the HR team to provide good working conditions to the employee so that they may like the workplace and the work environment. It is the fundamental duty of the HR department to motivate the employees. Human resource management should come up with a system to provide financial and non-financial benefits to the employee from the various departments. Employee welfare is another concept which should be managed by HR team. Employee welfare promotes job satisfaction.
7. Maintenance
Minimizing employee turnover and sustaining best performing employees within the organization is the key. Minimizing ROI within HR department is also a key goal for Human resource management team.
8. Labor Relations
Effectively managing the workers, grievance handling, liasoning with various government bodies, health and safety, General policy on working hours, remuneration, overtime and leave days etc is also a very important part of the job description.
9. Personal Research
Keeping a check on employee opinion about wages, promotions, work condition, welfare activities, leadership, employee satisfaction and other key issues.
10. Personal Record
This function involves recording, maintaining and retrieving employee related information including employment history, work hours, earning history etc.
11. Admin Duties
- Monitoring and maintaining office equipment and inventory supplies; orders replacement supplies as needed
- Creating, updating, and maintaining records and databases
- Updating office policies and procedures
- Scheduling company calendar and updating as needed
- Preparing reports on expenses, office budgets, and other expenditures
- Supporting department managers, staff, and CEO
- Preparing travel arrangements for office staff and managers; overseeing and preparing expense reports and budgets
- Coordinating building and maintenance issues for general repair (heating and air conditioning, security, etc.) and updating (carpet cleaning, painting, etc.).
- Organizing special functions and social events
- Preparing correspondence, documentation, or presentation materials
- Any or all admin related activities as per company policies
