Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our team and serve as a vital link between our patients and our plastic surgeons. The Patient Care Coordinator will be responsible for guiding patients through their surgical experience, from initial consultation to post-operative care, ensuring a seamless and positive experience at every step.
**Responsibilities**:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providing assistance, guidance, and support throughout their surgical journey.
- Coordinate patient appointments, including scheduling consultations, surgeries, and follow-up visits, while optimizing clinic efficiency and patient flow.
- Conduct initial consultations with prospective patients, discussing treatment options, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative instructions, including medication management, wound care, and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure all necessary pre-operative assessments, clearances, and paperwork are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain pre-authorizations and verify coverage for surgical procedures, communicating financial responsibilities to patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, consent forms, and treatment plans, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide ongoing communication and support to patients, addressing inquiries, managing expectations, and addressing any concerns or complications that may arise.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for each patient.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in patient care coordination, preferably in a plastic surgery or medical office setting, is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, and HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a genuine desire to support patients through their surgical journey.
