Your Role:
As a Cloud Database Administrator with a strong AWS background in our Healthcare R&D division, you will leverage your expertise to create, optimize, scale, automate, and manage a diverse ecosystem of databases, including NoSQL, OLTP, OLAP, and Data Vault models, primarily on AWS and Snowflake. Your contributions will be vital in advancing R&D efforts and developing a robust cloud-based database solution for drug discovery and development.

Your role involves designing and implementing a technical roadmap for scalable, secure, and highly available database solutions that integrate with modern CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows. You will ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of data storage while maintaining high data quality and integrity. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database services into broader system architectures, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

Who You Are:

- Architecture & Implementation: Architect and implement scalable, secure, and highly available database solutions using AWS services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redshift. Experience in Snowflake is required.
- Translate Use requirements: Translate business requirements into optimized, cloud-native database architectures that meet performance, scalability, and compliance goals.
- Database Design & Model: Ensure data models, schema designs, and system boundaries support long-term maintainability and performance.
- Best Practices: Design and maintain cloud-native database architectures aligned with AWS best practices for security, availability, and cost efficiency.
- IaC Automation: Implement Infrastructure-as-Code templates to automate database provisioning and management using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
- Monitor, Scale & Performance Tuning and Optimization: Monitor, conduct execution plan reviews to proactively drive performance, optimize & scale databases. Implement monitoring and alerting solutions using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, perform root cause analysis to document the observations.
- Security, Governance & Compliance: Implement database security policies, IAM roles, encryption, and access controls. Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (GxP, GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.). Maintain detailed audit logs and perform periodic security and audit reviews.
- Automate Tests: Develop and execute database unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests; integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to ensure stability, reliability, and compliance before deployments
- Database Administration: Design, implement, and test Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies to ensure business continuity. Manage backup schedules, validate data integrity, and perform restoration operations when required. Plan and execute database migrations (including on-premise) with mínimal downtime, ensuring data accuracy and performance optimization.
