**Position Overview**:The Medical Counselor plays a crucial role in providing emotional support, guidance, and mental health services to patients and their families. This role requires a deep understanding of psychological and emotional challenges that patients may face due to their medical conditions and treatments. The Medical Counselor helps individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and emotional distress related to their healthcare journey.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Emotional Support**:Provide empathetic and compassionate support to patients, helping them manage emotions and psychological challenges related to their medical conditions.
Assist patients and families in understanding the emotional aspects of their diagnoses and treatments.

**Counseling Sessions**:Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with patients to assess their emotional well-being, discuss concerns, and develop coping strategies.
Utilize therapeutic techniques to help patients manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties.

**Patient Education**:Educate patients and families about the psychological impact of medical conditions, treatments, and recovery processes.
Offer guidance on strategies for emotional resilience and stress reduction.

**Collaboration with Healthcare Teams**:Collaborate with medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and social workers, to provide comprehensive patient care.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to share insights on patients' psychological needs.

**Crisis Intervention**:Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to patients experiencing acute emotional distress.
Collaborate with appropriate personnel to ensure patients receive the necessary care and support.

**Psychosocial Assessments**:Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify patients' emotional needs and develop personalized support plans.
Assist in determining if additional mental health services are required.

**Documentation and Reporting**:Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and patient interactions.
Provide appropriate documentation for medical records and compliance purposes.

**Community Resources**:Connect patients and families with community resources, support groups, and mental health services when needed.
Help patients build a network of emotional and practical support.

**Continuing Education**:Stay updated on best practices and advancements in psychological support for patients with medical conditions.
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance counseling skills.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Licensure or certification in counseling or psychotherapy, if required by the region.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, conditions, and treatments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to counseling.
- Ability to manage complex emotions and challenging situations.
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and interventions.

Pay: Up to ₹20,000.00 per month

Schedule:

- Day shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's (preferred)

**Experience**:
