Location: Goa, India
**Job Description**:
We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Commi Chef to join our culinary team in Goa. As a Commi Chef, you will play a vital role in assisting the senior chefs in food preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. You will have the opportunity to work with fresh local ingredients and contribute to the creation of delightful dishes that showcase the flavors of Goa.
**Responsibilities**:
Food Preparation: Assist the senior chefs in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to the established recipes and standards. This includes cutting, marinating, seasoning, and cooking ingredients to produce high-quality meals.
Station Setup: Set up and organize workstations with all necessary ingredients, equipment, and utensils required for the shift. Ensure that all ingredients are properly stored and labeled to maintain freshness and avoid cross-contamination.
Menu Development: Collaborate with the senior chefs to develop new menu items and suggest modifications to existing dishes based on customer feedback and local culinary trends. Contribute creative ideas to enhance the overall dining experience.
Quality Control: Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times. Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen are of the highest quality in terms of taste, presentation, and temperature. Conduct regular checks to maintain consistent portion sizes and minimize waste.
Stock Management: Assist in monitoring and controlling inventory levels of ingredients and supplies. Report any shortages or discrepancies to the senior chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Cleanliness and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by following sanitation standards and procedures. Regularly clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and utensils. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other members of the kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, to ensure seamless coordination and timely execution of tasks. Support and assist colleagues as needed during peak hours or special events.
**Requirements**:
Culinary Education: Diploma or degree in culinary arts or a related field is preferred. However, relevant work experience and a passion for cooking will also be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a Commi Chef or in a similar role within a reputable restaurant or hotel kitchen. Experience with Goan cuisine is a plus.
Knowledge and Skills:Strong understanding of various cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and culinary terminology.
Familiarity with Goan cuisine and a passion for exploring and incorporating local flavors into dishes.
Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, including HACCP guidelines.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with kitchen staff.
Flexibility: Willingness to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per business requirements.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy pots and pans, and work in a hot kitchen environment.
Language: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of local languages like Konkani or Hindi is beneficial.
