Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
What is the principal reason for the existence of the job? What is it designed to accomplish? What is the general function of the job?
Plan, supervise, and control the activities of assigned personnel for efficient, safe and profitable operation under the direction of the shop manager.
Execute a daily work schedule with the proper systems and priority for mechanical operations in the shop.
Ensures that the correct job-related information and facilitates the necessary resources to complete the required tasks.
Enforces plant rules, motivates and mentors direct reports, handles minor personnel issues, monitors scrap/rework/warranty, assists with proposal generation and provides technical expertise to ensure quality/safety on all projects.
Ensures Statutory compliance of Shop floor, related to Health & Safety, Pollution Control board, Labor laws, Electricity board & Customs.
Provide timely information to relevant personnel, ensure the availability of necessary tooling and resources with calibration wherever necessary, to do the job.
Supports the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities of operations including, but not limited to, establishing best practices, standard work instructions, safety culture and habits, and good housekeeping techniques.
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE
What are the requirements of this job in terms of education and previous work experience? What kinds of knowledge and skills should the incumbent possess? - Diploma and advanced technical training or equivalent experience in the field of turbo machinery or Manufacturing.
- Minimum of four (4) years work experience in heavy equipment / part manufacturing or repair environment. Experience on the manufacture or repair or Manufacturing of rotating equipment will be an advantage.
- Detailed working knowledge of shop practices, repair, safety, personnel, and administrative procedures.
- Technical ability to make decisions and direct assigned personnel to perform required assignments.
- Excellent supervisory and communication skills within Technicians.
- Technical skills must include specific knowledge of Conventional & CNC machining ,CNC programming, Assembly, manufacturing processes, and shop floor control. Welding and Heat treatment skills will be desirable.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills are also required.
- Good knowledge of English, Hindi and Kannada

This position exists to direct the daily activities of Technicians in the tasks of turbo machinery assembly, disassembly, inspection and repair.
The mechanical supervisor must control quality/safety/efficiency issues in his/her area of responsibility by motivating, mentoring and monitoring employees and to respond to individual needs in many areas primarily safety.
Excellent communication and managerial skills are required to keep each stakeholder informed of developments with individual projects, changes to standard procedures and potential quality/delivery/safety issues.
The mechanical supervisor must work closely with other functional areas of the shop including the machining cell and Shop managers to control production.
This position is necessary to direct human and capital resources to affect the manufacture of OEM & Non-OEM product at the most cost effective, and timely fashion, with the goal of the finished part being of the highest quality.
A solid understanding of engineered drawings is a must.
A working interpretation of all forms of manufacturing related transmittals such as shop practices, process specifications etc.
This person must plan schedule and administer his individual area to meet confines of a preplanned budget and predetermined schedules.
