**Purpose of the Role**

Support the Corn breeder in Corn breeding activities as per the JD

**Position**: Research Associate - Corn

**Location**: Davanagere

**Reporting**: Senior Breeder - Corn

**Qualifications**: MSc Agri in Genetics and Plant Breeding

**Experience**: 1-2 years’ experience in breeding
- Efficiently manage the Research Station in Davanagere/Haveri
- Execute the breeding nursery plan given by breeder
- Management of Breeding nursery, disease screening nursery and trials - Sowing, crop agronomy, pollination and harvesting
- Collection of required data from breeding nurseries - flowering, DUS characters and disease scores
- Ensure the production of required quantity of hybrid seeds for trials and breeder seed with acceptable genetic purity.
- Preparation of trial kits as decided by breeder - randomization, kit preparation etc
- Selection of hybrids and inbreds suitable for the region having disease resistance and drought tolerance
- Station trial management, data collection and analysis - drought trials and irrigated trials
- Artificial screening of hybrids and inbreds for Diplodia Ear Rot
- Labour and Farm management
