CNC Turner Setter/operator

**Job Summary**:
The CNC Turner Operator at V.K. Valves is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC turning machines to produce high-precision valve components. The role involves setting up machines, programming basic CNC operations, monitoring production, and ensuring product quality meets the required specifications.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **CNC Machine Operation**:

- Set up and operate CNC turning machines to produce components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Select and load appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials into the machine.
- Input and modify CNC programs as needed to ensure optimal machine operation and product quality.
- **Machine Setup & Calibration**:

- Perform machine setup, including calibration of cutting tools and positioning of materials.
- Ensure that the machines are aligned, properly maintained, and prepared for production runs.
- Perform test runs to ensure proper machine operation before starting production.
- **Quality Assurance**:

- Inspect finished components to ensure they meet dimensional and quality specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to verify product accuracy.
- Record inspection results and report any deviations or quality issues to the production supervisor.
- **Troubleshooting & Maintenance**:

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance, tooling, and product quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on the CNC turning machines to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for any major repairs or adjustments.
- **Efficiency & Process Improvement**:

- Monitor production processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize cycle times.
- Assist in the development of new CNC programs for improved machining techniques.
- Continuously seek opportunities to streamline machine operations and reduce setup times.
- **Safety & Compliance**:

- Follow all safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment in the machine shop.
- Report any potential safety hazards or machine malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and quality control standards.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of machine setup, production runs, and quality inspections.
- Log machine downtime and tool changes, and report them to the production manager.
- Prepare production reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or diploma in CNC machining is preferred.
- Proven experience as a CNC turner or CNC lathe operator in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC turning machines, tooling, and machine setup.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CNC programs.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and G-code is a plus.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to work on your feet for extended periods.

**Preferred**:

- Experience in the valve manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with different materials used in valve components, such as steel, brass, and alloys.
- Knowledge of CNC machining software (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens).
