Roles & Responsibilities

The M/AM, Inventory Control plays an important role in the aerospace casting manufacturing company, overseeing the efficient management of materials, inventory, and related processes within the ATL Castings, Primary Metals, and Metal Products divisions. This role is key in ensuring optimal inventory levels, accurate record-keeping, and seamless coordination between various departments to support production schedules and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement inventory control procedures and policies to optimize inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts.
- Oversee the receiving, storage, and issuance of materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with production planning to ensure alignment between inventory levels and production schedules to meet customer demands and minimize lead times.
- Ensure minimum stock levels to be always maintained throughout.
- Achieve perpetual creation and upkeep of spare parts necessary for maintenance.
- Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Analyze inventory data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and inventory optimization.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to manage supplier relationships, monitor supplier performance, and ensure timely delivery of materials.

- Lead and develop a team of inventory control specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high levels of productivity and accuracy.
- Maintain inventory levels - raw materials and maintenance spares.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory management, including inventory turnover, stock accuracy, and fill rates.
- Coordinate with finance and accounting departments to reconcile inventory accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols and procedures in the handling and storage of materials, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Perform complete inventory checks of all stock and supplies at directed intervals.
- Coordinated with personnel to identify all obsolete inventory and dispose of accordingly.
- Implement just-in-time (JIT) inventory practices to reduce storage costs and enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee shipping, receiving, warehousing and stores related activities to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Ensure materials acquisition and storage comply with company and government guidelines.
- Provide procurement related inputs in project proposals that include feasibility reports/ costs-benefit analyses.
- Review annual Contracts for indirect spend, AMCs for Machinery, Engineering and Utility equipment.
- Monitoring budgets, MIS reports, Vendor Development, and management.
- Supervise, evaluate, and coach staff members by setting goals, directions and KRAs for the team.
- Ensuring training and counselling of team members as and when required.

Education and Certifications:

- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management/operations management/Mechanical/Production Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred.

**Experience**:

- 6 to 16 years of proven experience in inventory control, or related roles within the aerospace manufacturing or similar industry.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, techniques, and best practices, with demonstrated success in optimizing inventory levels and reducing costs.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and tools, such as ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop effective solutions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of inventory control specialists.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to materials management and inventory control in the aerospace industry.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently.
