**Position Title**: Restaurant Captain
**Location**: Baner, Pune
**Job Summary**:
The Restaurant Captain plays a key role in ensuring that all guests receive a high level of service and that the restaurant operates smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a combination of leadership, excellent communication skills, and in-depth knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, operations, and service standards. The Captain is responsible for overseeing service, managing guest interactions, training junior staff, and ensuring that all aspects of the dining experience meet the establishment's standards.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Guest Service Management**:
- Greet guests with a warm and professional demeanor, ensuring they feel welcome and valued.
- Manage guest expectations by addressing any complaints or concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Ensure that all guests receive personalized attention and are seated according to their preferences.
- Supervise the seating and flow of guests to optimize the dining room experience and prevent delays.
- **Supervision of Service Staff**:
- Oversee and guide servers, bussers, and other front-of-house staff during each shift.
- Ensure that service is performed to the highest standard by all team members, and that staff are following proper procedures.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff, including offering constructive feedback and resolving service issues.
- Assist in the scheduling of front-of-house staff to ensure appropriate coverage during peak hours.
- **Operational Oversight**:
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and drinks to guests.
- Monitor the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, ensuring that tables, floors, and restrooms are maintained to the highest standards.
- Ensure that service stations are well-stocked with necessary supplies, and that staff are aware of product availability.
- Monitor the flow of the dining room, making sure that seating arrangements and table turnovers are handled efficiently.
- **Coordination and Communication**:
- Act as the liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house, communicating orders, special requests, and any special dietary restrictions or allergies.
- Handle any special requests or VIP guests with discretion and professionalism.
- Relay guest feedback to management and kitchen staff for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during high-stress situations and assist with conflict resolution.
- **Sales and Upselling**:
- Provide menu recommendations to guests, and assist servers with upselling food, beverages, and specials.
- Ensure that all staff are knowledgeable about menu items, specials, and wine pairings.
- Drive the restaurant’s sales goals by encouraging staff to enhance the guest experience and increase revenue.
- **Safety and Compliance**:
- Ensure adherence to all food safety and sanitation regulations, as well as alcohol service laws.
- Make sure all team members are following health and safety guidelines, and are trained on the proper handling of food and beverages.
- Monitor the restaurant’s alcohol service to ensure responsible consumption and adherence to legal requirements.
- **Reporting and Administration**:
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, inventory counts, and preparation for the next shift.
- Prepare daily reports, record any incidents or guest feedback, and report to the restaurant manager.
- Assist in managing reservations, private events, and group bookings.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role (e.g., server, head waiter, or supervisor).
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of fine dining or casual dining service standards and operations.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of food and beverage menu, including wine, beer, and cocktail pairings.
- Ability to train and motivate a team, fostering a positive working environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Formal training in hospitality or culinary arts.
- Familiarity with restaurant management software and point-of-sale systems.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
