**Geospatial Data Scientist for biomass monitoring**

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join our team in India and Europe as a Geospatial Data Scientist.

We are building the vertify.earth platform to help our clients in industry, government and media to assess and measure nature conservation and agricultural productivity.

We are a small team, dedicated to building an inclusive and digital MRV (Monitor, Reporting, Verification) for agriculture and nature. Being in remote sensing, we work mostly remote - but we convene quarterly in Mumbai, Delhi and elsewhere to exchange idea, strategize for the future and just get together over a few Pani Puris.

We are seeking a remote sensing data scientist to contribute to our team's efforts in spatial modeling and monitoring of above-ground biomass and carbon sequestration across our project and product portfolio.

Additionally, you will collaborate in European working groups and MRV collectives to shape the future of accurate, transparent, and scalable biomass assessments. Your involvement will extend to advising partners and clients on best practices, including certification.

**Responsibilities**:

- Focus on assessing and predicting vegetation patterns and dynamics in the context of biomass
- Collaborate in European working groups and MRV collectives to contribute to the development of accurate, transparent, and scalable biomass assessments
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate data from various sources into comprehensive impact assessments
- Prepare and present reports, including visualizations and data-driven insights, to internal and external audiences.

**Requirements**:
We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications:

- Some 2 years of experience in vegetation remote sensing, preferably in forest and/or agroforestry systems
- Minimum of 1 year of applied knowledge in above-ground biomass assessments and modeling
- Strong, practical expertise in spatial modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning
- Proficient programming skills in Python, and ideally, familiarity with Google Earth Engine (JavaScript)
- Previous experience with QGIS and cloud-based computing platforms is advantageous
- Knowledge of carbon standards and certification processes is a plus
- Preferably, experience in agile project management
- Demonstrated pragmatic problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Reliable, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team
- Enthusiastic about making a positive social and environmental impact

**Salary**: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
