Position Overview

The Hotel Captain is a key leadership role within the hotel's food and beverage department. This position involves overseeing the operations of dining services, ensuring guests receive exceptional service, and managing a team of servers and other dining staff. The Hotel Captain acts as a liaison between the dining room staff and the management team to maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Guest Service Management**:

- Greet and welcome guests, ensuring they have a memorable dining experience.
- Address and resolve guest complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
- Oversee the service to VIPs and special guests, ensuring their needs are met.
- **Team Leadership**:

- Supervise and coordinate the activities of servers, bartenders, and other dining staff.
- Conduct training sessions to improve staff performance and service quality.
- Schedule shifts and assign duties to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
- **Operational Oversight**:

- Monitor dining room and service areas to ensure cleanliness and readiness for guests.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory levels of dining supplies and coordinate with the kitchen and procurement teams.
- **Service Quality Control**:

- Inspect table settings, including table linens, utensils, and condiments for cleanliness and proper placement.
- Ensure that food and beverages are served according to the hotel's standards.
- Conduct regular evaluations of staff performance and provide feedback.
- **Administrative Duties**:

- Handle cash transactions, billing, and guest checks accurately.
- Maintain detailed records of guest preferences and feedback.
- Assist in budgeting and financial planning for the dining department.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality management or a related field is preferred.
- **Experience**:

- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality or food and beverage industry.
- Strong knowledge of dining service operations and guest service principles.
- **Skills**:

- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of point-of-sale (POS) systems and other dining management software.
- **Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
