**Job Description: Junior Sous Chef (Indian & Continental)**
**Position**: Junior Sous Chef

**Reports To**: Head Chef
**Role Overview**
The Junior Sous Chef is a key member of the kitchen team, assisting the Sous Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality Indian and Continental dishes. This role combines hands-on cooking with team management, requiring leadership, creativity, and a strong culinary foundation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Kitchen Leadership**:
- Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team, ensuring smooth operations during service.
- Act as the second-in-command in the absence of the Sous Chef.
- **Food Preparation & Cooking**:
- Prepare and oversee the cooking of Indian and Continental dishes to meet quality and presentation standards.
- Experiment with recipes and contribute to menu development.
- **Quality Control**:
- Monitor food quality, ensuring consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
- Inspect raw and cooked food items to ensure proper preparation and quality standards.
- **Hygiene & Compliance**:
- Enforce kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper storage practices.
- **Training & Mentorship**:
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff, enhancing their culinary skills.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- **Inventory & Cost Management**:
- Assist in managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure efficient use of ingredients to control food costs.
- **Collaboration**:
- Work closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef to implement new ideas and streamline kitchen processes.
- Communicate effectively with other sections to ensure timely and efficient service.
**Qualifications & Skills**
- **Education & Experience**:
- Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts or related field preferred.
- Minimum 4-5 years of kitchen experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Advanced knowledge of Indian and Continental cuisines.
- Proficiency in managing kitchen operations and maintaining consistency in dishes.
- Familiarity with modern cooking techniques and equipment.
- **Leadership Skills**:
- Strong ability to lead and manage a diverse kitchen team.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- **Soft Skills**:
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving mindset and adaptability under pressure.
