Position Overview:
A student counselor is responsible for providing guidance and support to students, helping them overcome personal and academic challenges, and ensuring their overall well-being. They work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to address students' emotional, social, and educational needs. The key objective is to empower students and enhance their academic performance and personal development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide counseling support: Offer individual and group counseling sessions to students to address emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns.

Conduct assessments:
Evaluate students' interests, aptitudes, and skills to assist them in making informed decisions regarding their academic and career paths.

Develop personalized plans: Create, implement, and review personalized student success plans (SSPs) to help students set goals and create strategies for achieving a successful academic journey.

Promote positive mental health: Encourage students to maintain good mental health and emotional well-being by providing resources, identifying potential issues, and offering support and strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.

Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Relevant experience in student counseling or related roles.

Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with students.

Excellent communication and active listening abilities.

Empathy and understanding towards diverse student backgrounds and needs.

Knowledge of counseling theories, practices, and ethical guidelines.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues.

Strong organization and time management skills.

Proficient computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.

Familiarity with educational systems, career development, and mental health resources.
