As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring smooth operations at the front desk.
**Position Summary**: The Hospital Receptionist will manage the front desk operations, providing excellent customer service and support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a variety of administrative tasks efficiently.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, and manage appointment calendars.
- Register patients and process necessary paperwork, including insurance verification and patient information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and files.
- Coordinate with medical staff and departments to facilitate smooth patient flow and care.
- Handle billing and payment transactions, including co-pays and deductibles.
- Manage patient waiting areas to ensure a comfortable and organized environment.
- Address and resolve patient complaints or concerns promptly and effectively.
- Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or relevant certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar customer-facing role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in using office equipment and software (e.g., MS Office, electronic medical records systems).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Professional demeanor with a compassionate approach to patient interactions.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Experience with medical terminology and healthcare-related administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with hospital or clinic scheduling software.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
**Working Conditions**:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
