Job Description for Commis 1 - Continental Cuisine

**Position Title**: Commis 1 - Continental Cuisine
**Department**: Kitchen
**Reports To**: Sous Chef / Chef de Partie
**Location**: Dadar
**Salary**: ₹18,000 to ₹22,000 per month (depending on experience)

**Job Purpose**:
The Commis 1 - Continental Cuisine is responsible for assisting the kitchen team in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality continental dishes. This role involves working closely with senior chefs to ensure a smooth kitchen operation, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and contributing to the success of the kitchen team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Food Preparation**:

- Assist in the preparation of continental dishes, ensuring all ingredients are ready for cooking.
- Prepare sauces, salads, and other accompaniments as per recipe specifications.
- Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation.
- **Cooking and Plating**:

- Assist in cooking various continental dishes according to the established menu.
- Ensure that all food is cooked to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Ensure that dishes are plated and garnished correctly before serving.
- **Maintaining Hygiene Standards**:

- Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations in the kitchen.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment regularly.
- Handle food safely and ensure proper storage according to safety standards.
- **Stock and Inventory**:

- Assist with the receipt, storage, and inventory of kitchen supplies.
- Ensure the correct stock rotation and report any discrepancies in stock to the Chef de Partie.
- Monitor the availability of ingredients for daily preparation and assist in placing orders if required.
- **Team Collaboration**:

- Work effectively as part of the kitchen team, communicating with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff when necessary.
- Be flexible and willing to help in various areas of the kitchen as needed.
- **Quality Control**:

- Monitor the quality of food being prepared to ensure it meets the restaurant's standards.
- Report any issues with food preparation or presentation to the Sous Chef or Chef de Partie.
- **Equipment Handling**:

- Operate kitchen equipment and machinery safely, following proper safety procedures.
- Report any faults or breakdowns of equipment to the appropriate person for repair.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Educational Qualification**: Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent, with a focus on continental cuisine.
- **Experience**: 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
- **Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of continental cooking techniques and recipes.
- Understanding of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
