Job Summary: We are seeking a meticulous and experienced US Mortgage Live Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct thorough and accurate underwriting assessments of mortgage applications in real-time, adhering to regulatory guidelines and company policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the 4C Framework (Capacity, Capital, Collateral, and Credit) and possess strong analytical skills to evaluate borrower profiles effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Review mortgage applications submitted by loan officers or mortgage brokers for completeness and accuracy.
- Assess borrower profiles and financial documentation to determine creditworthiness and eligibility for mortgage financing.
- Utilize the 4C Framework (Capacity to repay, Capital, Collateral, and Credit history) to evaluate risk and make informed underwriting decisions.
- Verify employment, income, credit history, assets, and other financial information provided by applicants.
- Calculate debt-to-income ratios and other financial metrics to assess borrower's ability to repay the loan.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as company policies and guidelines.
- Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to loan officers or brokers, providing clear rationale and any additional requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments such as processing and closing to expedite the mortgage approval process.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to mortgage underwriting.
