We specialize in deriving valuable insights about various aspects of the business - including product and process design, consumer behavior, regulatory and credit risk, and much more - from large volumes of data to build cutting edge patentable products at an industrial scale.The Vice President of Card Tech Data will be a highly visible and impactful executive position leading in some of Capital One’s most exciting and innovative areas of technology strategy. In this role, you’ll lead a team building next generation data systems and products for Capital One Card which owns the largest repository of customer data available within the company. You will collaborate with and influence the Enterprise Data Senior Leadership Team, Line of Business Leaders, and Technology Senior Leaders. You will play a critical role as we continue to lead in data, analytics, and technology.The right engineering leaders for this role are not only passionate about technology, engineering excellence, and delivery, but they also attract and motivate world-class engineers with their technological and cultural vision. You’ve worked in customer-first, technology-forward companies that move fast and deliver impactful results for users. You have transformation experience, building world class producer and consumer experiences using a variety of tech stacks. You have a strong appreciation for data and experience working in an agile environment. You are an advocate for the value of data-driven business decisions and products, as well as comfortable with big data and cloud-based technologies and tools. You have experience or are confident you could quickly ramp up on emerging technologies and concepts such as Golang, GraphQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Fink, Apache Kafka, APIs, tokenization, and more.You have a proven track record of being able to identify top technical talent and inspire and manage through change. You have the proven ability to influence and collaborate with partners inside and outside the company to shape the data ecosystem and standards for data collection, ingestion, decisioning, and analytics in a data producer and consumer framework. You have a demonstrated ability to develop a vision, drive, and manage the execution of that vision, and deliver top-tier results. You exhibit excellent leadership skills to leverage the capabilities of peers, business partners, and associates, and possess the confidence and poise to influence the executive leadership team and various internal stakeholders.Specific candidate competencies include, but are not limited to:Strategic orientation -- proven capabilities around defining and implementing roadmaps in an incremental way to support business goalsIntellectually curious; interested in understanding and experimenting with new leading-edge technologies and a desire to continually learnAbility to establish credibility with, as well as motivate and mentor, highly technical engineersResults orientation - Proven track record of removing obstacles and influencing senior-level executive stakeholders across divisions and lines of business to achieve resultsExceptional leadership skills, marked by poise, positive influence, and the ability to drive change A management style that is collaborative, energetic, results-oriented, and innovativeBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s DegreeAt least 18 years of experience in technical roles including data architecture, data engineering, software engineering, or data strategy and operations.At least 18 years of experience within a large data-intensive multi-line business environment with significant complexity and scale.At least 10 years of experience in technology leadership or managing peoplePreferred Qualifications:Master’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Computer Science or Business Administration18+ years of experience in technical roles including data architecture, data engineering, software engineering, or data strategy and operations.15+ years of experience within a large/data-intensive environment with significant complexity and scale10+ years of experience in executive technology leadership roles in an agile environment leading medium to large sized engineering teams10+ years of experience in a cloud environment2+ years of experience managing the tech strategy for an organization’s flagship product Built modern data stacks from the ground up and managed them in production at scale Strong technical proficiency; well versed in public-cloud technologies, full stack software development, AWS services, technologies suited for data consumption, management and governance, tokenization, as well as machine learning techniques, or other comparable technologiesHighly developed interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
