Profile Summary

The Senior Operation Executive is not only responsible for effective management of self-managed vessels but enjoys finding ways to improve processes, keeping ahead of the factors affecting our business, and is continuously exploring digital solutions for all operational aspects.

Responsibilities

These are a must:

  • Understand macro factors affecting shipping today- esp. Geopolitics
  • Know which regulations such as ESG, CII, EU-ETS- affect shipping- and demonstrate the Why’s , the When’s , Where’s and the How’s of these. Understanding fundamental of chemical tankers- coatings, cleanings, compatibilities, resistance lists, IMO types, IBC code
  • Knowing what is TCE- and to whom is it important- and why

These are very nice to have:

  • Be digitally savvy and analytical
  • Familiar with prominent prevailing software solutions in shipping (IMOS, DA-Desk, Optimisation etc)
  • Be personally capable of generating and presenting analytics from inhouse data (IN- from systems- and OUT to excel, macros, Power BI, Powerpoint)
  • Be able to review and suggest workflow/process improvements from time to time

Manage Day-to-day operations :

  • Read, understand and execute charter parties, including pre-fixture confirmations
  • Communicate with Master and brokers on Voyage orders, cargo stowage plans/port restrictions etc
  • Ensure that the vessel is adequately stocked with bunkers, cleaning chemicals, cleaning equipment and fresh water
  • Be on top of the vessel specific limitations, certification status
  • Manage full DA cycle /Manage bunker requisitions / chemicals and fresh water for vessels
  • Claims handling: timely accurate correspondence, seeking advice internally
  • Follow up on all outstanding freight, hire, rebills, demurrage, Additional War Risk Premium (AWRP), Freight taxes etc.
  • Monitor all reports from ships and analyze TCE variations
  • Monitor, record, finalise any off-hires expeditiously

IMOS Voyage Management System

  • Understands IMOS architecture
  • Updating Maritime System (IMOS) in real time- schedules, Veson reports, demurrages
  • Prepare invoices for receivables and line up payment for any payables

Requirements and Personal Qualities

  • Degree in Maritime Studies or Diploma in Maritime studies with at least six years of relevant experience in a Chemical tanker owner/operator setup
  • Even though it is not mandatory, some sea-going experience is welcome- provided that demonstration of equivalent required knowledge is obvious.
  • Candidate with more years of experience will be considered for higher role
  • Be able to multi-task without getting anxious
  • Detail Oriented
  • Investigative
  • Team player

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
  • Articulate
  • Required to provide timely communication to relevant stakeholders regularly- such as itineraries to brokers and charterers, escalations to senior management etc
