About the Role

The Accounting Manager is responsible for a portfolio of commercial properties, owned by various investment funds and joint ventures, and ensuring compliance with lender, tax, and investor requirements. This role works closely with third-party property teams who manage day-to-day accounting operations using an accounting platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee overall property-level accounting including financial reporting, cash management, and budgeting.
  • Work closely with third-party property teams to review their accounting work, ensure accuracy, and maintain consistency.
  • Manage rent rolls, lease maintenance, and tenant recoveries.
  • Provide support to third-party users of the accounting platform.
  • Review and approve operating and tax escalations, annual estimates, and quarterly reconciliations.
  • Manage loan compliance, mortgage payments, and lender reporting.
  • Prepare unaudited financial reports as required by ownership and provide comprehensive audit support.
  • Prepare audited financial statements with footnotes, as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of property accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
  • Experience working with investment funds and/or joint ventures.
  • Knowledge of fair value GAAP, tax accounting, and IFRS.
  • Proficiency in tenant recoveries (CAM) and waterfall calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems applications and Microsoft Windows software programs.
