IT Leader Job Description

The system administrator will oversee the team from a technical perspective, providing support for application environments and interfaces. This includes diagnosis, resolution, and root cause analysis of issues, as well as identifying and documenting problem workarounds.

The individual will also ensure service requests are appropriately actioned according to performance targets, and provide technical support to business application environments to ensure 24x7 availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Support: Provide IT support for Development and Test environments up to and including Production.
  • Automation: Utilize automation, process efficiency, and appropriate tooling to reduce cycle times and improve reliability, audit, and traceability for all system deployments across multiple applications.
  • Process Management: Apply process, best practice, and system build standards consistently and constantly improve upon them.
  • DevOps Collaboration: Work with DevOps to ensure the Development Team has the right environment to maximize development efficacy and obstacles are removed and automation introduced where appropriate.

The system administrator will also be responsible for ensuring that Production is managed, supported, and controlled with the appropriate level of governance and agility, protecting Production environments by governance, good practice/process, design, and 'fit for purpose' environments.

Additionally, the system administrator will contribute to design in any Change/Project, ensuring it is the best it can be aligned to the constraints of the Project/Change, and address weak points in Process, Technology, and Service through a culture of continual improvement.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of IT Experience in relevant technologies or engineering teams.
  • 5+ experience in managing projects, services, and engineering teams working on Cloud (Azure), IaaS, PaaS, and other Infra Provisioning services.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Cloud Fundamentals or advanced cloud/data qualification will be an additional advantage.
  • Prior experience in leading team of platform engineers and support of large complex 24x7 application environments is essential.
