R&D/Product Development Engineer II

This position involves conceptualizing original ideas for new products, implementing them in practice, and overseeing product development and qualification from market definition through production and release.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing ramp to guarantee timely delivery and quality.
  • Provide all necessary product documentation, including Solid Model, 2D, 3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements.
Responsibilities

The Design of control systems for Industrial Automation equipment is a critical aspect of this role, requiring creativity, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Design automation control electrical and pneumatic schematics that are both efficient and effective.
  • Liaise with Production during initial machine manufacture to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
  • Produce support documentation, including BOMs and manuals, to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Debugging of PLC programs requires a systematic approach, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Researching solutions to existing process problems demands analytical thinking and creativity.
  • Technical support to Production is essential to address queries, provide guidance, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Fixture Design and Development for improving productivity with quality is a key area of focus, requiring innovative solutions and best practices.
  • Validation and delivery of completed systems necessitate meticulous planning, execution, and verification.
  • Maintaining high quality and compliance standards in line with Medical Devices manufacturing requirements is paramount, adhering to industry regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • An Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with 4-7 years of experience in generating control schematics, automated fixtures, robotics integration, fixture design, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience with Cobot and AGV implementation is beneficial, demonstrating adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • A strong technical background and capabilities are essential for this role, encompassing expertise in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks).
  • Proven experience in fixture design, mechanical design, or manufacturing engineering is desirable, showcasing practical skills and knowledge.
  • Proficiency in programming IEC 61131 compliant PLC language is necessary, ensuring seamless communication between systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems with innovative and cost-effective solutions is crucial, driving continuous improvement and growth.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and cost reduction strategies is valuable, promoting efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Excellent working knowledge of equipment and process validation is essential, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is beneficial, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of ISO and FDA compliance with emphasis on validation is paramount, upholding industry standards and best practices.
