Senior Credit Professional Opportunity

We are seeking highly skilled credit specialists with extensive experience in mortgage underwriting to join our team.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Credit Professional, you will be responsible for assessing home loan applications, ensuring high-quality credit decisions, and collaborating with stakeholders across geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mortgage Application Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments and decision-making of home loan/mortgage applications based on credit policy and guidelines.
  • Credit Checks and Verification: Perform income verification, credit checks, property valuation reviews, and responsible lending assessments.
  • Liaison and Communication: Liaise with brokers, lenders, and internal teams for clarifications or documentation gaps.
  • Timely Decision-Making: Provide timely and high-quality credit decisions while meeting service level agreements and compliance standards.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure adherence to the National Consumer Credit Protection Act, Anti-Money Laundering regulations, and other relevant requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior underwriters, and support process improvements.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on pipeline, service level agreements, and quality metrics.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with at least 2–3 years in the Australian home loan domain.
  • Strong understanding of credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems.
  • Experience working with multiple lenders is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
  • Experience with income types including PAYG, self-employed, rental, foreign income.
  • Sound knowledge of credit bureaus like Equifax.
  • Familiarity with verification tools and fraud checks used in the mortgage ecosystem.
