About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Commercial Property Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial properties owned by various funds and joint ventures.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, including:

  • Cash management, including weekly check fundings and loan compliance
  • Financial reporting, including debt service coverage ratio calculations and lender reporting
  • Loan and escrow draw management
  • Audit support, including preparation of unaudited financial reports and audited financial statements with footnotes

You will work closely with our property teams, acquisitions team, dispositions team, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage property-level accounting, including review of 3rd party property accounting for consistency, accuracy, and proper accounting
  2. Oversee cash management, including weekly check fundings and loan compliance
  3. Prepare financial reports, including debt service coverage ratio calculations and lender reporting
  4. Manage loan and escrow draws, including covenant calculations
  5. Provide audit support, including preparation of unaudited financial reports and audited financial statements with footnotes
  6. Work with our construction professionals to provide accounting for development projects
  7. Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5-8 years of property accounting experience, with a majority in commercial real estate
  • Experience with funds and/or joint ventures, including fair value GAAP, tax accounting, and IFRS
  • Proficiency with tenant recoveries (CAM) and understanding of waterfall calculations
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Detail-oriented and ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Proficiency with financial software systems applications and Microsoft Windows software programs, including MRI
