Senior Lead Data Engineer

Job Description:

The Commercial Data team in Advertising is responsible for developing leading property and market data insights to power Real Commercial products. As a Senior Lead Data Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the globe to lead the design, development, and optimization of features to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead or significantly contribute to initiatives with strategic focus and value
  • Solve deep, complex technical problems in ways that enable other team members to learn and extend
  • Support the Engineering Manager/Tech Lead in setting the technical direction
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team
  • Support and drive continuous improvement of our production systems and be an advocate for the overall health of our systems
  • Work with stakeholders to design high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our users, including vendor platforms
  • Write, test, and document code according to REA Engineering standards and practices

Requirements:

  • Well-versed in SQL, Python, ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience with data modeling
  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Experience with data consumption
  • Experience with data analysis and documentation
  • Experience with data warehousing
  • Advanced skills in designing solutions that scale and perform for millions of users
  • Advanced skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies
  • Experience with modern software development techniques (e.g. functional programming, microservice architecture, test-driven development and CI/CD)
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders
  • Able to understand business, customer, and consumer needs to provide appropriate data solutions
  • Able to mentor other engineers in a collaborative agile team environment
  • Passionate about data and the latest data technologies
  • Good awareness of TDD, CI/CD approaches, and tools

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with BigQuery/PostgreSQL/MSSQL, Python libraries (Pandas, Requests, JSON), Docker, Kafka, Linux shell scripting, Git/GitHub, AWS (S3, Lambda, IaC), Airflow, interacting with REST APIs
