Database Management Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned database administrator to manage and maintain the performance, security, and integrity of our mainframe databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases with strong hands-on experience.
  • Monitoring database performance, space utilization, and availability on mainframes, ensuring efficient data access through optimal management of sets, subsets, and indexes.
  • Handling database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
  • Supporting schema changes and performing database reorganizations as required, working closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues.
  • Participating in disaster recovery testing and ensuring compliance with backup policies, while implementing and maintaining security, audit trails, and user access controls.
Required Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or mainframe DBA.
