At Palnar, we are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Systems Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the support, implementation, maintenance, and security of our SQL server landscape.

Job Overview

  • We are offering a competitive salary of $120,000 per year.
  • The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in database administration and management.

Responsibilities

Database Administration

The Senior Database Systems Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring database performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Administering SQL security and ensuring data integrity.
  • Creating, modifying, and maintaining database tables and fields.
  • Investigating data questions from the business and providing timely solutions.
  • Overseeing backup and restore processes for databases.
  • Sizing and monitoring database server performance and space capacity.
  • Participating in the creation and configuration of databases to support new applications.
  • Applying Microsoft patches to SQL servers on a monthly basis.
  • Database tuning and remediation of issues found in SQL health checks and vulnerability assessments.
  • Assisting in the setup and deployment of new SQL servers and clusters.
  • Assisting in database migrations.
  • Assisting in the removal of decommissioned SQL servers and instances.
  • Monitoring and investigating DB Best Practice reports and DB alert notifications.
  • Supporting and configuring SQL high availability utilizing availability groups and clustering.
SharePoint Site Development and Support

The Senior Database Systems Specialist will also be responsible for:

  • Supporting modifications to various internal SharePoint sites.
  • Creating, modifying, and supporting custom-coded sites.
  • Developing workflows.
  • Utilizing ShareGate utility to migrate/import data to/from SharePoint sites/libraries.
  • Generating permission, storage, and usage reports.
  • Adjusting site and library permissions.
Other Responsibilities

The Senior Database Systems Specialist will also be responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate SQL Server and DB inventory.
  • Developing installation, configuration, and recovery procedures for both standard and non-standard software packages and server systems.
  • Assisting projects with SQL, SharePoint, and Data Services related requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration and management.
  • 4-year College degree or equivalent business experience.
  • Preferred certifications: Microsoft SQL/Database Administrator.
