Import Ocean Freight Manager

As an Import Ocean Freight Manager, you will oversee the entire import ocean freight process, ensuring timely cargo clearance and delivery. This role requires a strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.

  • You will lead and manage the import ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation.
  • You will develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • You will oversee pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  • You will collaborate with internal departments to ensure efficient cargo clearance and delivery.
  • You will ensure compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • You will develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • You will manage and mentor the import operations team – allocate resources, set KPIs, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training.

Required Skills & Experience:

A strong background in international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS is required.

Excellent leadership and people management abilities are necessary.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills are required.
