Job Title: Surveillance Officer

About the Role:

The Surveillance Department plays a critical role in ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and internal policies.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surveillance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and closing electronic and audio communication alerts, analyzing alerts generated from automated surveillance systems, performing audio surveillance, and modifying procedures as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services or banking compliance, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and close electronic and audio communication alerts for the EMEA region
  • Analyze alerts generated from automated surveillance systems to detect potential violations of company policies and applicable rules and regulations
  • Perform audio surveillance by listening to voice communications of recorded employees to detect potential violations of company policies and applicable rules and regulations
  • Closing alerts requires properly documenting rationales with accurate, complete, and organized written commentary for audit trail
  • Modify procedures and submit them for approval when necessary
  • Enhance and improve the surveillance program from an effectiveness and efficiency perspective
  • Support compliance investigations, including gathering and analyzing communication logs, trade data, and other relevant information
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative metrics to report surveillance results to Senior Management
  • Keep up to date with regulatory changes, internal policy updates, and regulators' actions
Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years' experience in Financial Services or Banking Compliance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential. Additionally, the candidate must have expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word), good understanding of market abuse/conduct/compliance topics, and native-level proficiency in English language, both verbally and in writing.

Fluency in Japanese and/or French is a plus.
