Aerospace Mechanism Designer

Job Description:

We are seeking an Aerospace Mechanism Designer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for the design and development of various mechanisms involved in launch vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all activities from concept to detailed design, manufacturing, qualification testing and improvements of innovative space mechanisms needed in launch vehicles.
  • Conduct initial configuration studies through hand calculations and 1D simulations of sub-systems to check for desired performance and marginalities.
  • Perform design failure mode and criticality analysis to determine possible failure modes and identify mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the creation of high-fidelity parametric 3D CAD models and version control with cross-functional teams.
  • Detailed design of individual components adhering to engineering design principles and design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal stakeholders and implement design refinements and modifications suggested.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders for data exchange and effective communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • B.tech/M.tech - Mechanical, aerospace, robotics, structural engineering
  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience in Aerospace or defense industry
  • Exposure to design of various types of mechanisms such as linkages, motor and gear drives, cam and follower, lead screw and ball screw, etc
  • 3D CAD modelling experience in CREO parametric and 2D drafting with GD&T
  • Pneumatic system design experience is an added advantage
  • Exposure to qualification testing such as thermal, vibration, etc is preferred
