Role Summary:

This role is responsible for the design and development of various mechanisms involved in launch vehicles such as separation and jettisoning systems, satellite deployers, Electromechanical actuation systems, Landing and recovery systems.

Responsibilities:

· Lead all activities from concept to detailed design, manufacturing, qualification testing and improvements of innovative and reliable space mechanisms needed in space launch vehicles

· Conduct initial configuration studies through hand calculations and 1D simulations of sub-systems to check for desired performance and marginalities

· Perform design failure mode and criticality analysis to determine possible failure modes and identify mitigation strategies

· Oversee the creation of high-fidelity parametric 3D CAD models and version control with cross functional teams

· Detailed design of individual components adhering to engineering design principles and design for manufacturability and assembly

· Participate in design reviews with Design clearance committee and implement the design refinements and modifications suggested

· Interface with internal and external stakeholders for data exchange and effective communication.

Qualifications and experience:

· B.tech/M.tech - Mechanical, aerospace, robotics, structural engineering

· Minimum 3 - 7 years of experience in Aerospace or defense industry

· Exposure to design of various types of mechanisms such as linkages, motor and gear drives, cam and follower, lead screw and ball screw, etc

· 3D CAD modelling experience in CREO parametric and 2D drafting with GD&T

· Pneumatic system design experience is an added advantage

· Exposure to of qualification testing such as thermal, vibration, etc is preferred

· Exposure to multi-body dynamics and structural analysis tools will be considered an asset but not required
