Job Title: Senior Content Editor

Location: Chennai

Department: Edex

Experience: 8 – 12 Years (preferably in the education domain)

Qualification: Master's in Journalism / Mass Communication

Job Summary:

We are looking for dynamic and passionate Senior Content Editors to join our editorial team in Chennai.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the field of education, student affairs, and youth trends.

They will be responsible for curating, editing, and producing compelling content for both print and digital platforms of Edex.

Key Responsibilities:

  • We need someone who can collaborate with senior management on content strategy, team performance, and editorial planning.
  • Candidate must have the ability to curate and develop engaging content focused on education, careers, innovations, student initiatives, and campus life.
  • We require someone who can contribute fresh story ideas and support in conducting interviews and field reporting, when necessary.
  • The role involves coordinating with designers and digital teams to ensure timely and quality content delivery.
  • This position leads and mentors a team of writers and interns, ensuring quality and consistency across all content.
  • The person will work closely with the editorial team to plan and structure content for Edex print and web editions.
  • Assign tasks, track progress, and provide editorial feedback to team members to help them improve and grow.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the Edex editorial guidelines and tone.
  • Edit and proofread articles submitted by reporters, freelancers, and contributors for accuracy, clarity, and grammar.
  • Keep up to date with current education trends, competitive exams, student issues, and policies impacting education.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in journalism or mass communication is required.
  • At least 8 – 12 years of experience in journalism, preferably with a focus on education, youth, or career-related content.
  • Strong editing, writing, and storytelling skills with impeccable grammar.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and social media platforms is an added advantage.
  • A keen interest in the education system and youth affairs.
  • Proven experience in handling and leading teams is a strong plus.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in education journalism or content creation for student-centric platforms.
  • Exposure to multimedia content creation (video/audio/newsletters) will be a plus.
